Headquarters Trip
I will be traveling to USPSA Headquarters in the embryonic megalapolis
of Sedro-Woolley, Washington in June to meet with Executive manager
Dave Thomas, and the rest of the USPSA staff to discuss technology
issues.
Some of the items I will attempt to accomplish on this trip include:
- New Technology Projects - I will be working with Roger and
other members of the USPSA staff to develop plans for new technology
projects, involving improved functionality for both the web page
and EzWinScore.
- Transfer of Routine Tasks - train the USPSA staff to handle
routine adminsitrative tasks such as posting major match listings and
registraiton forms, creating "upload areas" for major match results,
and similar functions. (Of course, how much of this gets done depends
on Dave's reaction when I tell him I have more work for his staff)
- Identify Automatable Processes - I will try to identify any
other areas of actvity at USPSA Headquarters which may be further
automated via web technology. One example of a success we had in this
area was the introduction of an on-line Nationals Waitlist Signup for
the 2002 Factory and Race Nationals. I am hoping to discover other
areas where we can obtain a similar benefit.
- Technology Overview - Provide Dave Thomas and appropriate
staff with an overview of the technologies USPSA uses on the web
server, and what additional technologies we may wish to consider for
the future.
